The times in which we, and therefore also the children, live have changed. With unit-based education, we are responding to contemporary developments, in which pupils are given more responsibility for their own learning process. Learning no longer takes place exclusively within the walls of a classroom; the teacher is increasingly becoming a guide and coach within the unit. In varying groupings, education is tailored to the learning needs of the children. From traditional to contemporary education.

 

Education in units

Root groups
Units consist of base groups with children of different ages. Each base group is led by a base group teacher. The base group teachers are responsible for properly monitoring the child's development and for contact with parents. All base group teachers within a unit are responsible for the instruction moments. They make use of each other's strengths in doing so. This way, children can participate in education at their own level. This makes learning more interesting and challenging for the children. 

 

Workspaces
Within the unit, children can work in their own tutor group, but also collaborate with other children in the learning plaza or independently in the quiet room. On the one hand, the children experience a clear structure, but they can also plan their own learning route more. Their independence is appealed to, supported by their tutor group teacher as well as other team members.

 

Bespoke education
Working in units is flexible and allows for tailored education. This is beneficial for both gifted children and those who require more support. It aligns with the development of 21st-century skills. Children learn to work independently and collaboratively. Unit staff provide guidance and support.

Unit 1

  • Children aged 0 to 4 years
  • This is provided by Tinteltuin

 

Unit 2

  • Children from Years 1 and 2
  • The classes in their own year group with a permanent year group teacher
  • A communal play space in the form of a learning square, richly and interactively furnished… a meeting place for children from the different age groups.

Unit 3

  • Year 2 children
  • The classes in their own year group with a permanent year group teacher
  • The groups have a shared learning plaza, richly and stimulatingly furnished... the meeting place for children from the different tribes.

Unit 4

  • Years 4 and 5 children
  • The classes in their own year group with a permanent year group teacher
  • The groups have shared learning plazas, quiet spaces, and workshops that are richly and challengingly furnished

 

Unit 5

  • Children in years 6, 7 and 8.
  • In their own peer groups and in vocational workshops led by vocational specialists
  • A learning plaza has been set up where pupils can collaborate, and there are quiet zones.

School-wide thematic working
World orientation, citizenship, digital literacy, science, nature and technology, philosophy, art and culture are offered in an integrated manner.

The themes include diverse learning paths that cater to different student levels. Students are encouraged to think, discover, and investigate for themselves through “Big Questions”. Big Questions that you can't just Google!

Active teaching methods
We are based on an activating didactics where students will discover and investigate for themselves. Students are busy expanding their knowledge of the world. This also has a positive influence on their reading, language, and arithmetic skills. The themes offer various perspectives and a diversity of working methods that are challenging for all students!

 

We also want to offer our employees the freedom for their own choices as well as sufficient structure for guidance.

 

Movement box

Within Kindercampus Mokum, we have access to a Movement Box… the gym of the future!

Challenge, interaction, and experience are central to the Beweegbox. The Beweegbox distinguishes itself with a square floor of 16 x 16 metres. This floor can be divided into four quadrants, allowing for more effective exercise in smaller groups. The Beweegbox offers space for traditional, modern, and future-oriented forms of exercise for all ages. And it does so in a smart and appealing way.
